Interactive iFetch Ball Launcher for Small Dogs – 2018 Review
Does The iFetch Ball Launcher Actually Work?
Product: iFetch Ball Launcher
Cheapest Place to Buy: Amazon.com
My opinion? – YES, and my ball-obsessed Terrier LOVES it!
I bought the iFetch Ball Launcher for my Toy Rat Terrier to interact and play with. It stimulates her mind and keeps her active. iFetch, in my opinion, it is a great product and keeps my dog entertained for long periods on a daily basis. It is also great for exercise and overweight dogs. We still go on our walks and hikes, but she has so much energy, this fills the gap! So finally, between the iFetch and her dog treadmill, she is getting all the exercise she needs.

iFetch Ball Launcher for Indoor and Outdoor Fun for Dogs!
Great for indoors when it’s too hot or cold outside. Works great outdoors on the grass or anywhere in your yard or at the dog park. The 3 distance settings are really helpful for different situations. The iFetch automatic ball launcher lets dogs play fetch to their heart’s content!
Just plug it in and launch the fun! Ball-obsessed dogs can’t get enough of this fun device. (I need to hide the iFetch after a while so my dog can have a break; otherwise she would go all day). You can change the launch distance to 10, 20 and 30 feet with the touch of a button. I supervise and trained my dog to wait behind (or beside) it while the machine revs up and the ball launches. She has also now figured out that if she stands close enough, she can catch it mid air.
*CAUTION* – don’t play for long periods of time on carpet or cement. The pads of her feet became bloody and red from running and sliding across the carpeting in my house. We now play outside in the grass and have had no more issues. If carpet or cement is your only option, I highly recommend using Musher’s Secret before and after playtime to help protect your dog’s paws.
The good stuff about the iFetch: My dog is in love with her iFetch. It didn’t take much training for her to figure out how to drop the ball in the opening herself so it will launch. The machine makes an almost-inaudible (to humans) high-pitched tone just before the ball launches so the dog can anticipate the launch. She gets very excited when she hears the tone. There are three launch settings depending on how far you want the ball to go. It works well both indoors and outdoors.
A piece of advice. After a bit, even with daily cleaning out with spray cleaner and a paper towel, the slobbery fuzz will build up in the tube and around the launcher wheels. You need a long-handled tool to get this cleaned up. I recommend a bottle brush.
How to use the iFetch Ball Launcher for your Canine Kid
First off, you may need to put it up on a block, depending on where your dog stands before the launch. If you leave it on the floor, there is a chance of the ball hitting him in the face. Just make sure to supervise when initially using in order to avoid injuries! The balls do shoot out with some force so you don’t want your dog looking right into it.
You can plug it in or use batteries.
- Adjust the launch distance with a touch of a button, and let the fun begin. Works with power cord or 6 C-cell batteries.
- Drop the ball onto the top of the machine and it will go into the hole (or train your dog to “drop” it in). I used treats for motivation.
- Encourage your dog to “fetch!” once the ball flies out of the front of the iFetch. You may need to launch a few balls from the iFetch at first, showing your dog that his new toy actually throws the ball – it doesn’t eat it.
- Now, coax your dog to “bring!” the ball back to the iFetch for more fetching fun. Again, try using another ball or treat to get them back behind the iFetch again and ready to drop. And don’t forget – lots of praise and hugs!
The iFetch Ball Launcher is worth the price!
I purchased another ball thrower and it was junk! I returned to Amazon and purchased this one. You truly get what you pay for. I stress to anyone interested, spend a little more for this one, it is well worth it!
Compared to other auto-fetch devices, this is easier for a smaller dog to drop a ball into, provides immediate feedback when the dog drops the ball in.
Only Complaint: It comes with 3 balls, but the replacement balls are too expensive (3 for $10) and are poor quality. Rest assured that the KONG extra-small squeak balls will work great. I’ve also just discovered these Midlee Mini Dog Tennis Balls, with no squeaker, that work well also.
Shipping was fast and it comes nicely packed. I ordered batteries to go with it. I already had a few packages of the Kong extra-small squeak balls, available on Amazon.
My Final Conclusion on the iFetch Ball Launcher
Overall, my dog loves it and it is a lot of fun and great exercise for her. It is also easy to travel with. I would buy this item again and recommend it to others. It is a one-of-a-kind toy! I highly recommend it for dogs that love to fetch with people who have busy lives. This was money well spent. We are having a blast with this iFetch Ball Launcher. Happy fetching!
